The Center for Victims of Torture is seeking a part-time Congolese Swahili Interpreter to provide interpretation services to international clients who are receiving therapy and social services.


The Center for Victims of Torture works toward a future in which torture ceases to exist and its victims have hope for a new life. We are an international nonprofit dedicated to healing survivors of torture. We offer rehabilitation services to those who have been tortured, train partners around the world who can prevent and treat torture, and advocate for human rights and an end to torture. We are headquartered in Minnesota, and we have US offices in Atlanta and DC, as well as offices in Africa and the Middle East.


Provide interpretation services to international clients who are receiving therapy and social services. Interpretation is typically in a face-to-face setting, but there may be periodic need for phone interpretation or document translation. Interpretation services are provided on a part-time, as-needed basis in Clarkston Georgia. Hours vary, but typically interpreters will work approximately 3-4 hours per week.

Currently, because of COVID-19, interpretation will happen over the phone and via Zoom. Once we return to working in the office, interpretation will move to in-person, in our Clarkston office. If hired, interpreter would be expected to work in the office, providing interpretation services.


  • Hours will fall in these times: 8:30am-5pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10am-6:30pm Thursdays
  • Location: Clarkston, Georgia
  • Hourly Rate: $30 per hour
  • Estimated Hours: 3-4 hours per week


  • Applicant must possess excellent interpreting skills
  • Fluency in Congolese Swahili and English
  • Interpreting experience in the medical, mental health, or social services areas preferred.
  • Experience working in a confidential environment
  • Interest in the advancement of human rights
